Jane Morris

I have been a co-opted Governor for Bewdley Primary since 2015. Being co-opted means that I am completely independent of both the staff and parents. Governors are responsible for the school's vision, ethos and strategic direction as well as holding the Head Teacher to account for the standard of your children's education. My specific responsibilities relate to Early Years but I am also a member of the Governor's Finance and Personnel Group. I have also agreed to Chair the Group which reviews how effectively we are using our Pupil Premium funding.

You might wonder why I am doing this - particularly as it's on a  voluntary basis. Simply, when I took early retirement I wanted to continue making a difference. My expertise, as a senior leader in the Civil Service, included things such as Governance, Finance, Personnel and complex complaint resolution, all of which are useful skills for a School Governor.

I am really enjoying being a Governor of Bewdley Primary School but the real highlight has to be just how wonderful the children are.
