I have been a governor at Bewdley Primary School since 2012 and currently have a child in UKS2 and another child who moved to Bewdley School this year. When my four year term of office as a parent governor ended, I agreed to serve as a co-opted governor to give some continuity to the board. I think it is important that parents are part of the structure of the school and give support and make challenges when necessary.
I am a chartered accountant and hopefully my skills are put to good use in the Finance and Personnel committee, of which I am the chair. This is a sub-group of the main governing body and meets each half term to look at spending and budgeting issues and to approve staff changes and appointments which are suggested by the headteacher. Decisions made by this committee are then reported to the Full Governing Body.
My work and family keep me busy but in the spare time I do have, I like to cycle in our lovely countryside and socialise.
