I have been a co-opted Governor since April 2015 and was appointed the Vice Chair of Governors in September 2016. Being co-opted means that I am completely independent of both the staff and the parents and can therefore be completely objective about decision making in the best interest of the school development.
My specific responsibilities are for School Property (this includes reviewing Classroom upgrades, General School Maintenance and ensuring both Capital and Maintenance Revenue Budgets are well managed) and monitoring Upper Key Stage 2 progression and development. I am also a member of the Governors Finance and Personnel Committee that monitors the school finances and staffing levels to ensure financial stability.
I formerly worked as Engineering Director for Mondelez International (you probably know this better as Cadbury) and hope the school will benefit from my industrial management and financial skills.
I am a passionate believer in that a good education can open up future opportunities and careers for people from any background and as a first generation university graduate from my own family in Wigan wanted to support the local school. I am married to Anne who is Clerk to the Governors and she initially suggested I should become a School Governor.
