Nursery Life

Every day at Bewdley Primary School Nursery is filled with opportunities to play, explore, discover and grow. From making new friends and sharing stories to investigating the world around us, we want every child to feel happy, confident and excited about learning.

Our two-, three- and four-year-olds learn and play together in a welcoming, nurturing environment where every child is valued and encouraged to flourish.

Our Nursery Day

Our Nursery is open Monday to Friday during school term time, offering morning, afternoon and full-day sessions.

Session Times
Early morning session 8:30am – 9:00am
Morning session 9:00am – 12:00pm
Afternoon session 12:00pm – 3:00pm
Full Nursery day 9:00am – 3:00pm

The early morning session is available for an additional charge.

We understand that families have different needs and aim to offer flexible attendance arrangements wherever possible, subject to available places and staffing. Further information about funded hours and additional sessions can be found on our Nursery Funding & Fees page.

Outdoor Adventures

Our wonderful outdoor environment is an important part of everyday Nursery life, giving children the freedom to explore, investigate, create and discover the world around them. Outdoor learning offers endless opportunities for children to develop their physical skills, follow their curiosity, take on new challenges and enjoy imaginative play. We believe that learning outdoors is just as valuable as learning indoors, supporting children's confidence, independence, creativity and wellbeing.

Forest School

Forest School is another exciting part of our Nursery experience, giving children opportunities to connect with nature, explore the natural world and develop their confidence through hands-on outdoor learning.

Through exploration, discovery and play, children are encouraged to be curious, take appropriate risks, solve problems, work together and develop resilience. Whether discovering the changing seasons, exploring natural materials or embarking on new adventures, Forest School provides wonderful opportunities for children to develop a love and appreciation of the outdoors.

Whatever the weather, there's always something wonderful to discover!

Lunches & Snacks

Mealtimes are an important part of our Nursery day, offering opportunities for children to develop independence, enjoy conversations and build friendships.

Children staying for lunch can bring a packed lunch from home or have a school meal. We encourage healthy, balanced food choices and ask families to follow the school's food and allergy guidance.

Children are also offered snacks during their Nursery sessions. We invite families to make a voluntary contribution towards snacks and food-related activities, with further details available on our Nursery Funding & Fees page.

Free School Meals

Some children attending Nursery may be eligible for free school meals if their family receives certain benefits, including Universal Credit. For Nursery children, eligibility also depends on their attendance arrangements. Children must attend full-time or receive education both before and after the lunchtime period.

If you think your child may be eligible, please contact our school office for advice or visit our School Meals page for further information.

Starting Nursery

We know that starting Nursery is a big milestone, both for children and their families. Before children begin, we offer settling-in visits so that they can explore their new surroundings, meet the Nursery team and start building familiar, trusting relationships.

We take time to get to know each child as an individual, learning about their interests, routines and needs so that we can help them feel safe, secure and ready to enjoy Nursery life. As children grow, they continue learning and playing in our shared Nursery environment, surrounded by familiar adults and friends.

Before & After Nursery

We understand that some families need additional childcare around the Nursery day.

Wraparound care is available for children from their third birthday, with provision operating between 7:30am and 5:30pm. Please contact the school office for information about availability, bookings and charges.

Ready for Every Adventure!

Nursery is a place for exploring, creating, investigating and sometimes getting wonderfully messy! We encourage children to wear comfortable, practical clothing that allows them to move freely and enjoy all aspects of Nursery life.

As outdoor learning is part of our everyday provision, please ensure your child has:

  • A waterproof coat

  • A pair of wellies

  • Suitable clothing for the weather

  • Spare clothes in case of little accidents or particularly enthusiastic adventures!

Please make sure all clothing and belongings are clearly named.

Working Together

We believe that strong relationships between Nursery and home help children feel happy, secure and confident.

Our Nursery team values regular communication with families and welcomes opportunities to share children's achievements, interests and experiences. Whether you have a question, something to celebrate or a concern you'd like to discuss, we're always happy to talk.
