Reception Curriculum
At Bewdley Primary School, our Reception curriculum is designed to inspire curiosity, encourage exploration and nurture a lifelong love of learning.
Throughout the year, children enjoy a range of exciting themes, stories and experiences that help them discover more about themselves and the world around them. High-quality books, nursery rhymes, purposeful play and practical activities are at the heart of our approach, providing opportunities to develop language, imagination, independence and essential early skills.
Our curriculum is carefully planned around the seven areas of learning and development within the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), whilst remaining flexible enough to respond to children's interests, experiences and individual needs.
Learning Through Play and Continuous Provision
Alongside our planned themes and stories, children learn every day through carefully designed continuous provision, both indoors and outdoors. Our learning environments provide opportunities for children to explore, investigate, practise and apply their developing knowledge and skills through purposeful play. Adults support and extend this learning through meaningful interactions, modelling, questioning and carefully planned experiences, helping children to become increasingly confident, independent and curious learners.
Explore our Autumn, Spring and Summer Learning Journeys below to discover the stories and themes our Reception children will enjoy throughout the year. These may be adapted as the year progresses to reflect the interests and needs of each cohort.
