PE & Sport Premium

We believe that physical education, sport and physical activity play a vital role in children's health, wellbeing and personal development. We want every child to develop the confidence, skills and enjoyment needed to lead a healthy and active life.

The PE and Sport Premium is additional government funding provided to primary schools to improve PE, sport and physical activity. It is intended to enhance existing provision and support sustainable improvements that will benefit pupils now and in the future.

We use this funding to support our commitment to providing high-quality, inclusive and enjoyable opportunities for all pupils. Our priorities include:

  • Developing staff confidence, knowledge and skills in teaching PE.
  • Encouraging regular physical activity throughout the school day, including through active playtimes and our OPAL approach.
  • Raising the profile of PE, sport and healthy, active lifestyles across the school.
  • Providing a broad range of physical and sporting activities, helping children discover new interests and talents.
  • Increasing opportunities for pupils to participate in competitive sport and events with other schools.
  • Removing barriers to participation so that all children can enjoy and benefit from physical activity.

Our ambition extends beyond PE lessons and sporting competitions. We want to create a lasting culture of physical activity where every child feels included, experiences success and develops positive attitudes towards being active. We carefully monitor and evaluate how the PE and Sport Premium is spent, the difference it makes to pupils and how improvements can be sustained.
