Extra Curricular Activities

The School Choir

The school choir is lead by Mrs Dunn and Miss Bradley. The choir is open to all pupils in Key Stage 2 and is held during lunchtime.

School Band

The school band rehearses after school on a Wednesday afternoon in the library with Mrs Winscom. This year we are gradually adding extra instruments to our flute and recorder club so that all children can take part in the band as they reach the required level. If the part is a bit tricky, changes can always be made to make it less of a challenge!

Lunchtime brass club

Mrs Whitmore takes brass club on a Friday lunchtime. Please see her directly for details.

Bewdley Youth Brass Band

Children having lessons with Miss Whitefoot are encouraged to join this brass club when they reach the required standard. This Band includes players from other primary schools as well as some of those from Bewdley School and Sixth Form Centre. The band rehearses on a Thursday afternoon after school in the library and is open to anyone who plays a brass instrument. Please see Miss Whitefoot or Mrs Winscom for further details.

Performance opportunities

Singing Assembly

Throughout the academic year children are encouraged to perform in Singing Assembly either individually or in groups. Children are asked to see Mr Cottrill to arrange a time to perform.

Christmas Concert

At the end of the Autumn Term there is a Christmas Concert for children in Upper Key Stage 2 where it is possible to include some performances for children in other year groups if they are put forward as part of a group.

Youth Makes Music

The school school choir and some instrumentalists regularly participates in the Youth Makes Music concert at Kidderminster Town Hall in May. This is an opportunity not just to perform in a prestigious venue but to hear other children from Primary and Secondary schools within the Wyre Forest area.

Youth Makes Music takes place on five nights of the year and we will inform parents as soon as we have been allocated a date on which to perform.

Recital afternoon for children in Years 3, 4 and 5

This year we are introducing a recital afternoon for any children who would like to perform in front of parents and friends. With so many children learning to play an instrument we are unable to let everyone perform their own solo in the end of year concert. To overcome this, we look forward to hearing from some of our younger players at this recital.

Summer Concert

This is an opportunity for all our instrumental and vocal groups to perform to parents and friends. Any year 6 children who have been learning to play an instrument or sing  whether in or out of school will be invited to play in this concert.

Although we encourage as many children as possible to perform, it is important that they do this when they feel confident. If your child does not want to take part, we will not be putting any undue pressure on them. It is far more important for children to only perform as and when they feel confident so as not to put them off!

Pyramid Music Concert

Last year children in Year 2 took part in a pyramid music concert with children from the other Bewdley Primary Schools at Kidderminster Town Hall. This was the first time such a concert had taken place. We look forward to the next one!
