Jeffers - Our Learning Hub

Welcome to Jeffers!
We believe that every child deserves the opportunity to learn, grow and achieve their very best. We also recognise that every child's journey is different and sometimes a different approach can make all the difference.
Named after the much-loved author and illustrator Oliver Jeffers, our Learning Hub is a very special part of our school. Designed to support children in Key Stage 2 (Years 3–6) who benefit from a more personalised approach to learning, Jeffers provides a welcoming, nurturing and carefully structured environment where children can develop their skills, build confidence and experience success through learning that is tailored to their individual needs.
Jeffers is home to a flexible approach to teaching and learning. Some children spend the whole morning in The Hub, while others join us for particular sessions, depending on the support they need. Every child accessing Jeffers has an Individual Provision Map (IPM), helping us ensure that teaching is purposeful, personalised and regularly reviewed.
In the afternoons, all children return to their usual classes to enjoy the wider curriculum alongside their friends, with the support and adaptations they need.
Jeffers is about much more than additional support. It's about recognising potential, celebrating progress and helping every child feel confident, capable and proud of what they can achieve.

Learning in Jeffers
Learning in Jeffers is carefully planned around the individual needs of each child, with a focus on developing essential skills, building confidence and encouraging greater independence.
Our approach is flexible. Some children spend the whole morning in Jeffers, from 8:30am until 12:15pm, while others attend specific sessions depending on their individual learning needs.
Children benefit from personalised teaching, with a particular focus on developing their reading, writing and mathematical skills. Learning is adapted to help children build secure foundations, experience success and make meaningful progress at their own pace.
All children accessing Jeffers are on our SEND register and have an Individual Provision Map (IPM). These plans identify individual learning priorities and help us ensure that teaching and support are purposeful and regularly reviewed.
Inclusion remains at the heart of everything we do. Every afternoon, children return to their usual classes to access the wider curriculum alongside their peers, with appropriate adaptations and support.
Why Oliver Jeffers?
Our Learning Hub is named after the wonderful author and illustrator Oliver Jeffers, whose imaginative stories encourage children to explore, wonder, ask questions and see the world in different ways.
From Lost and Found to Here We Are, his books celebrate curiosity, friendship, kindness and discovering where we belong. We think that's rather fitting for our Learning Hub, where every child is encouraged to find their own way of learning, develop confidence and celebrate the things that make them unique.
