PE and Sport Premium

At Bewdley Primary School, we recognise the important contribution that physical education, sport and physical activity make to children's health, wellbeing, personal development and achievement. We want every child to develop the confidence, skills and enjoyment needed to lead a healthy and active life.

The PE and Sport Premium is additional government funding provided to primary schools to develop and improve the quality of PE, sport and physical activity. The funding is used to enhance the provision already available within school and to make improvements that are sustainable and will continue to benefit pupils in future years.

At Bewdley Primary School, we use the PE and Sport Premium to support our commitment to providing high-quality and inclusive opportunities for all pupils. Our priorities include:

  • developing staff confidence, knowledge and skills in teaching PE and physical activity;

  • increasing pupils' engagement in regular physical activity;

  • raising the profile of PE, sport and active lifestyles across the school;

  • providing a broad range of sporting and physical activities so that children can discover new interests and talents;

  • increasing opportunities for pupils to participate in competitive sport and events with other schools; and

  • ensuring that opportunities are accessible to all pupils, including those who may experience barriers to participation.

Our aim is not simply to provide additional sporting opportunities, but to create a lasting culture of physical activity in which children develop positive attitudes towards being active, experience success and understand the importance of physical activity for their health and wellbeing.

We carefully monitor how the PE and Sport Premium is used and evaluate the impact it has on our pupils and the quality of our provision.
